NICHOLAS WOOLFOLK

About Nicholas Woolfolk
Versatile. Hardworking. Dependable.
Throughout my academic endeavors and work history I have often heard these adjectives. From being a five-sport athlete and academic standout in high school to becoming Summa Cum Laude at Virginia State University while playing football and baseball, I've had to manage my time effectively and efficiently in order to exceed expectations from my coaches and work supervisors. As a recent recipient of my master's degree in Sport Management at Troy University I am looking to further my career with a progressive, dynamic, and innovative company in the sports related industry.
My Story
Perhaps my number one asset is determination. I learned a lot about myself throughout my academic and athletic journey over the years. In high school, I was a part of the International Baccalaureate program, where I participated and excelled in the classroom taking advanced/college level courses, graduating with a 4.56 GPA. I have always been self-motivated and determined to give my full effort because of the characteristics my parents instilled in me throughout my childhood.
During high school, I played five sports, achieving multiple athletic awards and notoriety for my performance in the class, as well as my leadership capabilities. Despite leading the pack in my endeavors, I was not highly recruited for collegiate athletics. I accepted a walk-on spot at Christopher Newport University (a Division III) in Virginia to play football. However, the coach who recruited me left CNU shortly after I arrived, and the new coach brought many of his own recruits. It became obvious I would not see much playing time. I decided to take the initiative and started looking for another university where I could contribute to the team. I was determined to control my own destiny.
Virginia State University (a Division II) welcomed me with open arms, and I was able to start on the football team and also became a valuable member of the baseball team. After transferring I found myself at a school that recognized my athletic abilities on the football and baseball fields. I was blessed to receive a partial athletic and academic scholarship and played for three years while earning my bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (3.9 GPA). I was fortunate enough to receive multiple awards and accolades that demonstrated my desire to excel.
After completing my degree, I had an extra year of eligibility for both sports and wanted to prove to myself that I had what it took to accomplish my dream of becoming a Division I athlete. I decided to attend Troy University, where I could compete and contribute to the university's football and baseball teams, while obtaining my master's degree in Sport Management (3.3 GPA).
The ability to be a dual-sport collegiate athlete for four years illustrated my maturity, time management skills, and determination to achieve the goals I set for myself. Throughout my college career I also worked during summers and holiday breaks to help offset the many expenses of attending college. The many qualities and characteristics I possess show that I am capable of meeting the demands of any future employment.
